Omkara is based on William Shakespeare's 17th century classic, `Othello'. The movie is set against the political conflict around gangland of Uttar Pradesh. Omkara (Ajay Devgan) heads a gang of outlaws, Langda Tyagi (Saif Ali Khan) and Kesu (Vivek Oberoi) being his chief partners. Langda's pride is insulted when Omi appoints Kesu and not Langda as his chief lieutenant. Raging with envy he hatches a plan to misleadingly implicate Omi's mind against innocent lover Dolly (Kareena Kapoor)> Langda's plan results into a horrifying tragedy and Omi goes about tearing up his secure world. `Omkara' is a classic theme of love, deception, jealousy and passion.
